Even though the love story within the film was tragic, the movie itself was amazing showing the depths of characters by evoking emotions with a unique use of cinematography, excellent acting, and the use of symbolism throughout the film. Rate: 8/10
The film was a beautiful tragedy that called to mind the tale of Romeo and Juliet. The scenes with Hani were heartwrenching. The symbolism and foreshadowing at the beginning of the movie was masterful. Rate: 9/10.
An Egyptian classic, a very moving romantic tragedy with topical issues that were touched upon such as the Palestinian-Israeli war. The use of melodramatic music that plays every time Khaled and Nawal see each other is emotional and evokes emotion onto viewers. There are hints of comedy performed by Khaled’s witty friend, Wasfy, and this alleviates some of the tragic portions of the film. Rate: 9/10
